Prospecting shouldn’t be a guess.
Prospector Maps is an evidence-led gold map for the United States. It scores the ground for gold, tells you how sure it is, and checks whether you can dig — so a day in the field starts with a plan, not a hunch.
It is built by two people — a data engineer and a geoscientist — who got tired of prospecting on a hunch. One builds data pipelines; one reads rock for a living. Between them, that is exactly what this takes: the engineering to assemble and score the data, and the geology to make sure it reflects how gold actually forms.
Every prospector knows the drive: three hours out on a rumour, a claim stake where you meant to dig, and a long trip home with an empty pan. The information to avoid all of that already exists — scattered across dozens of government datasets, in formats nobody wants to wrangle on a Saturday.
So we did the wrangling. We fetch, clean and align 46 public data layers, score every patch of ground for how likely it is to hold gold, and — the part that matters most — we tell you how much evidence stands behind each score. Then we put it on a map you can take into the field, fully offline.
We are not a detector brand, and we are not selling certainty. We are the part that comes before the shovel: where to go, and whether you are allowed to.
Three rules we won’t break.
No score without confidence.
A number on its own is a guess. Every score carries a second number — how much real data sits beneath it. A 90 on thin data is a hint; a 90 on deep data is a lead. We never show the first without the second.
Every source, named.
Every layer comes from a public dataset — licensed, credited, and generated straight from the live map so the list can never drift. Nothing scraped, nothing guessed, nothing you can’t go and check yourself.
Guidance, never a guarantee.
No map can promise a find, and we won’t pretend otherwise. We put the odds in your favour and show our reasons. Land access is guidance, not legal truth. The rest is yours to dig.
The United States,
growing state by state.
Arizona and Colorado are engine-scored today; California and Nevada carry the full base data, with more onboarding. Every state ships the same instrument — the same confidence, the same named sources, the same honesty. Australia, Canada and New Zealand are on the way. See what’s live →
